About

Lode Authority is the research and writing imprint of Lode Systems Ltd, a UK enterprise software company building authority infrastructure for AI agents in regulated environments.

Its purpose is to develop the conceptual frameworks underpinning Lode Systems' work — particularly how organisations should structure decision authority between humans and AI systems in regulated industries where accountability, auditability, and human oversight are non-negotiable.

The work draws on patterns from regulated professional practice — chartered engineering, capital delivery, audit and assurance — applied to the new question of how AI agents should be authorised, bounded, and held to account.

Founder

Founded by Matt Stockton, with a background in chartered project management and capital delivery in the built environment. His current focus is on authority architecture for AI in regulated industries — how organisations should structure, delegate, and audit decision-making authority as autonomous systems take on consequential roles.
